The fishy finger of fate…

You asked for it. I listened. (It’s always the same isn’t it. You try to get out but they always claw you back in.)

Anyway – back due to popular demand (does three people count as popular demand ???) its another sandwich related blog. Without any further ado on with the show.

Last night Mrs Cheesecake and I went back to an old favourite. The fish finger.

‘Wait a minute Pablo’ I hear you cry ‘Haven’t you blogged about this before?’ Your right but this time there’s a twist.

Oh yes….wait for it….salmon fish fingers. WTF!!!

Truly we live in a golden age. When the good boffins at Birdseye can take something as glorious as the humble fish finger and improve on perfection.

The fishwiches were created using a seeded wholemeal batch loaf, mayonnaise, cucumber and in Mrs Cheesecakes case a little lemon juice to add a bit of zing!

All credit to them they were a fine fishwich. Really hit the spot! My only concern is now that Birdseye have me hooked they will up the price knowing full well that I am unable to resist. Honestly it is the fishwich equivalent of crack.

In other news Mrs Cheesecake’s internet rampage continues. I have now slipped into 3rd place after Mr M Sheen and Mr R Armitage. Well I can’t complain I will be starting work on my first magnum opus shortly. Yes I’ve got my video camera back so I’ll be starting my own project soon!

Until next time loyal fanbase

Pablo Cheesecake and the Sony eReader

For Christmas I convinced the vast majority of my relatives to get my book tokens. I am an avid reader to everyone knew that they would be appreciated. Rather than buying a book however I decided to take a leap into the twenty first century and purchase one of the new eReader’s from Sony

Sony eReaderI have to say, after using it for three months now, that I am impressed for the most part. Over the next few paragraphs I’ll give you my impressions of this interesting little bit of kit.

The Reader – Same size as your average paperback. Thinking about it probably weighs about the same as well. I’ve found that when reading though there are number of buttons to access the various menus and search functions I tend just to use forward and back.

The Software – The goods news is that Sony seem to have learned from previous mistakes on this one. I have had mp3 players from Sony in the past and the big let down for me has been the software package used to manage tracks. The eReader can handle multiple file formats as well as audio and pictures so the eLibrary needed to be simple yet robust enough to copy. Now I’m not saying that it’s attractive link the sort of stuff you get from Apple but the software does do the job. So far no gripes.

The Verdict – I suppose the I only have two minor complaints with the reader. One is that the tactile sensation when turning a page is missing. Now I know that might sound a bit wanky but I have also enjoyed that as part of reading. Secondly no wi-fi capability. Unfortunately I think this second point will direct a lot of potential users towards the Kindle when it is launched in the UK. Its a shame because overall the eReader is a nice little bit of tech.

What Next? – Well if i was Sony I would look into colour in a big way. If you are going to include the capacity for pics then there has to be a colour option. I think increasing the internal hard disk to 4-8GB rather than 200MB might be an idea as well. If they want people to use this to replace their mp3 player as well as traditional books then more storage is required as standard.

Until next time

There’s been a burger…

Taking a step back from the humble sandwich on Saturday night myself and Mrs Cheesecake indulged in a bit of hardcore burger action. In an effort the spice things up a little we avoided the pedestrian beef and select a lamb burger instead. Nice choice! Lamb burgers are pretty tasty. Also the give just a hint a kebabiness that I enjoy.

Naturally we went for a sesame seed bun. I think we can all agree that nothing else will do. The other elements of this mighty construction included mayo, gherkin and in my case a sweetcorn and red pepper chutney. Mrs Cheesecake went with just the regular sweetcorn. As an accompaniment we select a nice rustic chip. None of your fast food chain uniform rubbish here!

All in all a good meal

Till we eat again

Who watches the Cheesecake

So this afternoon I finally got the opportunity to see Zach Snyder’s take on Watchmen. Did I enjoy it? For the most part yes. The action was top notch the acting was good with a couple of standouts.

watchmen

Don’t get me wrong there were a few things I had a bit of difficulty with. I wasn’t the only one in the screening who had a chortle during the sex scene . Mrs Cheesecake also asked me to point out that she was disturbed by the the regularity of Dr Manhattan’s mighty blue wang looming into view but apart from these two things the movie was tops.

I thought the performance from Jackie Earle Haley was bang on. The whole section where he was in prison was a real highlight. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Carla Gugino were also pitched just right.

I’ve read a lot in the run up to the Watchmen hitting our screens and I’ve also checked out a view review since it’s release. All these peoples are entitled to their own opinion. You want mine? Go see it for yourself. Make up your own mind. I liked it. You might not. We will never know until you take the plunge will we? I’ve watched the Watchmen. Have you?

Michael Sheen and a Thursday Sauswich

Evenin’ all.

Welcome to the second in the infrequent series regarding sandwiches and their many a varied fillings. Before I start wittering about my latest foray into the ‘world of the wich’ I want to make an official complaint.

Damn your black heart Michael Sheen! Recently Mrs Cheesecake became the proud owner of the following domain http://www.michael-sheen.co.uk . She has some crazy notion about creating website dedicated to this most versatile of modern actors. A side effect of this is that I have become an internet widow.

Sheen on hearing the news

Ahh well, on with the show as they say.

Last night I was feeling particularly lazy when it came to creating my usual culinary morsels for dinner. Only one choice – emergency wich. For those of you that have read my blog before you are aware of my strong feelings re the finger of fish. Alas no fingers available so sausage won out.

a sauswich yesterday

Mrs Cheesecake has a natural aversion to thick skinned sausage (ahem) so we went for a nice chipolata. Multiple sauces were the order of the day. She went for a BBQ honey-smoked affair while I placed my trust in some old school mustard. Success all round!

You’ve been beautiful. I’ve been here.

Pablo Cheesecake : An Public Service Announcement

So finally after several months of waiting and the odd false start I received my replacement laptop. The original was stolen last November. The new laptop was supposed to be identical to the last but I have discovered that I have a copy of Windows Live Writer. 183039

Look its me trying it out….

Ooh… I must have an integrated webcam on the laptop as well. Either that or someone is taking photos right in front of me and I cant see them. Concerning, I think so.

In other news – folks have highlighted their concern regarding me sitting around all day in my pants doing nothing (see re-enactment below)

HairyMan

So I wont be doing that any more. Mrs Cheesecake is relieved on many levels.

Anywho I don’t really have anything important to blog about at the moment so I will go and do something less boring instead.

Why does no-one remember these things but me?

A very quick list of stuff only I seem to remember. Whenever I bring them up people just stare blankly at me

  • The New Shmoo – WTF! Is this some sort of crazy sperm with legs or what?

  • Watoo Watoo – A bird from outer space…I kid you not.

  • Ludwig – A crystal egg with robotic arms and legs. Good grief I need to go lay down for a bit.

Later peoples

Thank You

A quick thanks to Mrs Cheesecake and her mad Photoshoppy skills in creating the blogs new banner. Thanks missus!

Also a big pat on the back for passing your final exams. Mrs Cheesecake fuck yeah! Well done sweetheart. Very proud

Best on the Box

As ever I have been pondering the mysteries of the universe and as ever I got distracted by the evil telly box in the corner of the living room. On any given night there is some fine viewing options that warrant your attention dear reader. In no particular order I’ll give you a run down of some that I consider highlights. Now I could wax lyrical about the ‘boob tube’ (as our American cousins call it) till the cows come home but I am going to set myself some strict limits. I am only going have entries on the list that are currently being broadcast.

  • Being Human – Best British series of the moment bar none (I’m looking at you Dr Who). A vampire, a ghost and a werewolf sharing a house. Funny, creepy, sad and moving all in one go. I was fortunate to see the pilot episode last year on BBC3 and I think that the series has continued in the same vein (excuse the pun) and is starting to develop into something which is constantly gripping to watch.

  • Lost – Ok so it confusing. Every episode leaves us with more unanswered questions than answers but we all keep coming back for more don’t we? It’s always nice to see Jim Robinson continuing to get work.
  • Hustle – Adrian Lester back where he belongs in series 5. On yer bike Marc Warren (your in everything else anyway!). I read this morning that there will be a series 6 coming soon. Good times.
  • Demons – Not bad for a first series. I think it has a way to go yet but bring it back ITV and we’ll give it a chance. Put it this way. No worse than Primeval and that’s coming back for a third series. Oh I just spotted two Glenisters on one list… crazy!
  • Battlestar Galactica – Consider the 70’s version of this show and then compare it against what we get now. Insightful political drama, action by the bucketload and more twists and turns than a man trapped in an automatic pretzel making machine….hmmm pretzels

  • 24 – 7 years in and The Jack Bauer Power Hour still going strong. Lets be honest though Jack’s a bit of a fucking jinx isn’t he. Whenever he shows up things invariably explode. If I did that at work they wouldn’t let me in the office.

  • A Town called Eureka – Fun show. bit less heavy going than some of the other genre TV on the list but that ain’t a bad thing.

Ok so I might have cheated a little. I know Hustle and Demons have just finished their respective series runs but they were both worth including and like I have said before My Blog My Rules.

Well do you agree or not? Answers on a postcard. Oh and for those that took part last time I have created a new poll. TV related so as to be in keeping with the theme of this twaddle.
